The carrier will fly from its bases in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana to New York JFK, Miami and San Juan.
The first route, connecting Santo Domingo with Miami four times weekly, will begin on April 11.
Arajet plans to expand its service to more U.S. cities soon. While the U.S. is a recent addition to Arajet’s growing network, the airline already connects destinations from Canada to Argentina. Arajet currently flies a fleet of 10 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with three more set for delivery this year.
The signing last fall of an Open Skies aviation agreement between the U.S. and the Dominican Republic eased the path toward April's service launch.
In an interview in the fall, Arajet CEO Victor Pacheco said the carrier would serve three core markets in the U.S.: Dominican expats visiting family and friends, leisure travelers headed to Dominican beaches, and connecting traffic between North America and South America.
