Aer Lingus Welcomes Air Travel Tax Reduction
Aer Lingus welcomes yesterday’s announcement that the Air Travel Tax has been reduced from €10 per departing passenger to €3 from March 1st, 2011. The current rate of €10 will continue to apply to all passengers departing from Republic of Ireland airports until March 1st, 2011. Customers who have already made a booking and paid the €10 rate, for travel after March 1st, 2011 will be refunded the €7 balance.
Aer Lingus will pro-actively refund the tax differential to customers who booked directly through aerlingus.com. The refund will be sent to the credit card used for the booking. Customers will receive the refund by no later than December 31st, 2010 and will receive an email confirming that the refund has been processed. This applies to bookings on Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus-Regional services.
Customers are advised that there is no need to request the refund of the tax as it will be processed automatically.
Customers who made their booking via a travel agent are requested to contact the travel agent to request the refund.
