HAT-TRICK FOR MAXIMUS AIR AT SCATA AWARDS
Maximus Air cemented its status as the leading player in the UAE’s cargo charter sector with its third Supply Chain and Transport (SCATA) Award in a row and the fourth in five years.
Abu Dhabi, 3 May 2012 - Maximus Air cemented its status as the leading player in the UAE’s cargo charter sector with its third Supply Chain and Transport (SCATA) Award in a row and the fourth in five years. An independent panel of judges recognized the airline for ‘having delivered a consistent industry-leading service in the Middle East and throughout the world over the past 12 months.’
Bassam Abu Hijleh - Vice President Flight Operations & Acting Chief Operation Officer received the Cargo Operator of the Year (Cargo Airline) award on behalf of Maximus Air at a dazzling reception held at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, last night, attended by more than 250 top executives from the Middle East transportation and logistics industries.
“We are very grateful to the organisers and panel of judges of the Supply Chain & Transport Awards for recognizing our achievements and selecting us for this award,” said Mr Abu Hijleh. “2011 was yet another strong year for the airline, against a backdrop of continued global economic difficulties. Revenues grew once more helping to achieve a seventh successive year of profit. The company at the same time has grown with the addition of new aircraft and we also achieved our IOSA-IATA audit certification. Our geographic footprint was also enlarged with the opening of a new in Kiev, Ukraine. And throughout all this growth and expansion we still enjoyed on time reliability of 98 per cent.
“This strong performance continued into 2012 with first-quarter revenues increasing 22.85 per cent compared to the same period in 2011,” he added. “Charter contributed nearly 50 per cent of those revenues while the customer split saw an increase in the private sector (78 per cent) compared to government business 21 per cent.
Maximus Air’s results were a major contributor to major equity holder, Abu Dhabi Aviation’s increase in annual profits. Full year net income for Abu Dhabi’s most diverse aviation Group reached US$76.2m, up from US62.5 million in 2010.
Established in 2007, the Supply Chain & Transport Awards recognise excellence in 17 categories covering the logistics, sea freight and air cargo sectors.
