SKY commenced flights on its new international route Lima - Sao Paulo
This flight is a key part of its Latin American expansion strategy, being its fifth route to Brazil and second gateway to Sao Paulo.
Lima, July 3, 2023 - As part of its Latin American expansion strategy, SKY commenced operations on its new international route Lima - Sao Paulo, its fifth route to Brazil and second gateway from Sao Paulo.
This flight will allow Brazilians to easily connect through Lima to key destinations like Cancún, Punta Cana, Cusco and 14 other cities in Perú, while for Peruvians the possibility to reach Brazil through its main gateway.
The inaugural flight SKY 5564 departed from Lima's Jorge Chávez International Airport to São Paulo-Guarulhos at 11:40 pm with an 85% occupancy rate. It was presented by José Raúl Vargas, General Manager of SKY Peru, who highlighted the airline's plans to continue growing in the region.
"The launch of our flights to Sao Paulo reaffirms our commitment to the growth of the aviation industry and the consolidation of tourism in the region. We continue working to become the preferred low-cost carrier in Latin America, offering affordable fares with the best low-cost product in the most modern fleet of South America. We are confident that this new route will be an opportunity to improve the cultural and economic exchange between Peru and Brazil, allowing SKY to strengthen its presence in this dynamic market”, said Vargas.
During the inaugural event, Madeleine Burns, Deputy Minister of Tourism, stated, "We are delighted to strengthen ties with each of the entities present here today. We are working hard on the development of different strategies for tourism. Thanks to this new flight, more tourists will be able to enjoy a wide variety of beautiful destinations and a rich gastronomy throughout our territory. We will continue working in a coordinated manner between the public and private sectors to develop connectivity that contributes to the growth of inbound and domestic tourism."
Felipe Antunes, counselor at the Embassy of Brazil, added, "It is an honor and a joy for the Embassy of Brazil to participate in the inauguration of SKY's new route connecting Lima with São Paulo. The Brazilian government is working hand to hand with the Peruvian government to increase the connectivity between our countries. The inauguration of this new flight is a major step in the context of enhancing connectivity, bringing our people closer."
As part of its international expansion strategy, the low-cost carrier will enable Peruvians and Brazilians to travel between these destinations and the Peruvian capital through four weekly flights, with the airline projecting to transport approximately 5,800 passengers per month. Due to the positive reception of the route, the airline expects to increase frequencies in the coming months.
In this way, SKY continues its internationalization strategy throughout Latin America, with Lima as an important hub in the region, using state-of-the-art aircraft and offering low-cost fares.
