Danube Wings launches CBG service
First flight from Dole Jura Airport in the Burgundy area of France arrives in style in the UK
27 July 2012 – Today Cambridge Airport lands a double-first with Danube Wings’ first UK scheduled services to France, and the first ever flights to the Franche-Comté region.
The new scheduled flight operates by 70-seat ATR72 aircraft on Mondays and Fridays from Cambridge to Dole-Jura Airport. The regional airport of the Franche-Comté province, also offering ease of access to neighbouring Burgundy, is the first international scheduled service destination to be offered from Cambridge Airport under its new leadership team and it’s the first time any airport in the UK has offered a route to this great winemaking region.
Danube Wings has also introduced a unique wine allowance for passengers flying on the route. Every passenger flying from Dole-Jura to Cambridge will receive a special wine allowance of four bottles per person, in addition to a complimentary checked baggage allowance of 15kg and a hand luggage allowance of 5kg.
‘I am delighted to welcome Danube Wings to Cambridge Airport. This is a groundbreaking development with one of Europe’s rapidly developing airline companies and to such a beautiful and largely undiscovered region of France. We couldn’t be happier with Dole-Jura as our next new destination. It’s the first of a number of exciting international services we plan to bring to Cambridge and the East’, commented David Surley, Head of Business Development at Cambridge Airport.
‘At Danube Wings we are pleased to establish Cambridge Airport as our newest destination, connecting the UK to our new network of routes in France. Cambridge Airport is such an important gateway to London, Cambridge and the East of England, and we are looking forward to promoting tourism across these areas of the UK and France with this convenient new service,’ commented Jan Rostas, CEO of Danube Wings.
Ideally located only three miles from the centre of Cambridge, Cambridge Airport offers direct access from London by rail in just 45-minutes and provides a gateway to the East of England. With fast and easy boarding, travellers are just a quick two-hour flight away from Jura in Franche-Comté, where the delights of a gastronomic culture, meandering waterways, the Jura Mountain landscape, beautiful old riverside towns such as Ornans and Besançon, the tranquil sun-drenched beaches and tempting shores of beautiful Lac du Chalain – one of Europe’s largest – plus nearby Dijon and Burgundy, the grand cru of winemaking regions, await. You can also easily rent a car and discover all of eastern France and the Swiss border region, including the glamorous lakeside resort of Lausanne.
