CityJet opens new Fokker 50 base
CityJet taking-off at Cambridge - two new routes with wide-span of worldwide connectivity beyond
Cambridge International Airport this week welcomed the inaugural services of European airline CityJet, with their new Fokker 50 base in England's fasest growing city:
Just weeks after announcement by Christine Ourmières, CEO of leading European airline CityJet, that the carrier will open two new routes from the airport as of 12 May 201. CityJet launched its new East England base with a twice-daily timetable to/from Dublin in Ireland and to/from Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Both routes will offer double-daily service Monday-Friday and daily at weekends, operated by CityJet’s highly economical Fokker 50 aircraft, combining excellent service and reliability with the comfort of spacious legroom, leather seating, complimentary luggage allowance and in-flight refreshments.
In addition to the direct flights, both routes have been specificallyy configured to offer exceptional onward connectivity to worldwide destinations. Through CityJet’s close partnership with KLM, Air France, Delta and other partners, Cambridge passengers will now have regular, well-timed flights not only to Ireland and Holland, but fast and frequent connecting service to cities including New York, Boston, Toronto, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle, Shanghai, Beijing, Tokyo and many more key business and leisure destinations. What’s more, passengers connecting through Dublin Airport will be able to take advantage of the Irish airport’s US border clearance facility and proceed swiftly through US immigration en-route to the USA.

Christine Ourmières, CEO of CityJet, announcing the news at an airport news conference just two weeks before service launch, welcomed the arrival of a CityJet Fokker 50 aircraft base: “We decided to launch new routes from Cambridge as we saw a unique opportunity for success, particularly with our strong presence in both Dublin and London already. We know that the market has the demand on the route and we know that we can provide vital access to these communities. CityJet passengers will travel through Cambridge International Airport’s newly refurbished terminal, featuring new facilities, including a business lounge, Costa Coffee, complimentary Wi-Fi and lounge-style ambience. The airport is located only three miles from Cambridge city centre and offers on-airport car parking and excellent public transport access. It is also close to all major road networks A14/A11/M11 meaning regional centres such as Peterborough and Ipswich are easily reached within an hour - another 2 of the UK's 5 fastest growing civic economies.
