Cambridge International Airport launches East of England’s only flights to Verona
01/05/15
Cambridge International Airport has announced that, for the first time, seat-only fares are now available to book on its direct flights to Verona in northern Italy this summer.
Following the success of Inghams’ package holidays to the Italian Lakes, Cambridge International Airport is launching seat-only options to Verona for the first time this May, costing just £299 return. The weekly flights, operated by award-winning UK regional airline Eastern Airways, will depart on Saturdays from 16 May to 4 July, and 5 – 26 September 2015, and will be the only regular direct flight to Verona from the East of England.
The new flights offer excellent departure times, leaving from Cambridge International Airport at 9am each Saturday and returning from Verona at 2pm. This will enable travellers from the East of England to enjoy relaxing week- or fortnight-long independent trips to Verona and the Italian Lakes. Verona Airport is a convenient gateway for Venice (just an hour away) and the Adriatic Riviera, for fly-drive tours of northern Italy, the Dolomites and the South Tyrol region, or to join many of the cruise departures that set sail from Venice each week.
Costing just £299 return, flights include all taxes and charges, complimentary hand luggage and hold baggage, in-flight refreshments and snacks. They are exclusively available through Cambridge Airport’s in-house ticketing and reservations service in the airport terminal by Fred. Olsen Travel, which can be reached on 01223 373883.
David Surley, head of business & route development at Cambridge International Airport, commented: “This will be the only direct seat-only route to Verona from the East of England, so we expect it to be extremely popular amongst independent travellers looking to explore this very special area of Italy. There is a market for about 10,000 passengers between the Italian Lakes and our region every year, so this flight will come as good news to many travellers who currently have to travel long distances to fly from other UK airports.”
Passengers on the new flights will travel through Cambridge International Airport’s newly refurbished terminal featuring a spacious and relaxing hotel-style departure lounge, with Costa Coffee snack bar and complimentary Wi-Fi. The check-in time is just one hour before departure, and terminal-side car parking is offered at up to 50% off this summer, from just £5 per day.
The airport is located only three miles from Cambridge city centre and offers on-airport car parking and good public transport access. It is also close to all major road networks, meaning regional centres such as Peterborough and Ipswich are reached within an hour.
