Religious Turism from Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport

“Il Caravaggio” Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport is strengthening its route network for religious tourism.

The charter flight schedule offers four important pilgrimage destinations: Lourdes, Tel Aviv, Krakow and Mostar. The Lourdes and Krakow routes, offered by tour operator Brevivet, will be operational, respectively, from the third week of April until the middle of October and the middle of September, on the 148-seat Boeing 737-300 operated by Small Planet Airlines. Flights to the city of Bernadette will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Krakow, or rather the journey to the city of John Paul II, is new for the season and will be introduced by Brevivet for the pilgrimage sector. This route is scheduled for Wednesdays and Fridays.

Tel Aviv, the doorway to journeys to the Holy Land, will still be offered every Thursday by Brevivet. Flights will be operated by Neos Airlines on the 186-seat Boeing 737-800. Tour operator Eteria will also operate this route during April and May and from the end of July to the end of October 2012. Flights to Tel Aviv will operate on Tuesdays on 737-300 and 737-400 aircraft, with 148 and 168 seats respectively, by the airline Trawel Fly.

Tour operator Rusconi Viaggi is preparing to offer charter flights to Mostar, the departure point for pilgrimages to Medjugorje, scheduled from the Orio al Serio airport for the start of summer 2012. This is a new initiative specifically dedicated to the user base of the Bergamo airport, which represents a unique opportunity to visit this place of Marian devotion.

An addition to charter flights will be the scheduled Ryanair routes to Krakow (daily), Santiago de Compostela (3 times a week) and Lourdes (Tuesdays and Saturdays).
