For Vagar Airport, a safe and successful airport is pivotal. With the longer runway and new airport the facilities the foundations for a steady income and profit are considerably improved.
“In short, this gives us better opportunities to run a healthy business and attract new business,” CEO Jákup Sverri Kass says.

Visit Faroe Islands and Atlantic Airways at the core of the growth
Since the budget for Visit Faroe Islands was doubled they have managed to increase awareness and strengthen the positioning of the Faroe Islands as a tourist-destination. The longer runway and new navigational instruments have enabled, Atlantic Airways to invest in A319´s and strengthen the foundation of their operations.
Today Atlantic Airways is the only airline using Vagar Airport for regular passenger routes. Atlantic Airways has destinations to neighboring countries and recently also to destinations in Southern Europe. But Jákup Sverri Kass’ says that 2015 has also seen a record number of ad hoc charters use the new airport facilities.
