Three new airlines starting with seven routes to the sun from / to Magdeburg/ Cochstedt
For the coming winter season 2011/2012 a choice of no less than three new airlines and seven popular sun destinations is offered by the airport corporation Magdeburg Cochstedt mbH.
New carriers gained were German airlines Germania and Air Lipsia, as well as Turkish airline Corendon, increasing the flight schedule of the only international commercial airport in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, operational since 30th March 2011, by eleven weekly flights. From 6th November, passengers will have the opportunity to fly to Egypt, Las Palmas, Istanbul, Antalya, Budapest and Palma de Mallorca with a choice of several scheduled flights per week. Additionally, the first Inter-German business flight connection will be offered to and from the Bavarian capitol Munich.
Airport Magdeburg/ Cochstedt announced these new destinations to the public on 6th October. With a surprise presentation, media representatives and guests were given entertaining clues to the contents of the revelation: Oriental belly dancers, snake charmers and Flamenco guitarists pointed the way to the new destinations. Germania General Manager Axel Trampnau, Corendon representative Serkan Türkoral, Air-Lipsia General Manager Günther Karch, Schmetterling Sales Director Ralf Schmidt and Demed General Manager Dr. Ali Naci Asan were available on the day as contact persons. The Airport Magdeburg Cochstedt was represented by main stakeholder Peter Sølbeck and General Manager Uwe Hädicke.
Corendon-Airlines will start every Thursday and Sunday to Antalya (TUR) from the 6th November 2011. Istanbul will be added as a destination from 9th November, on the same days. Germania will introduce the connection Cochstedt <> Las Palmas (ESP) every Saturday from 19th November and from 20th November Cochstedt <> Hurghada (EGY) every Sunday. From the 4th February 2012, Germania will also offer flights to Budapest and Palma de Mallorca. With a weekday connection between Cochstedt and Munich (GER), Air Lipsia will start the Inter-German transfer to the Bavarian capitol on 14th November 2011. All scheduled flights can be booked with any travel agent and on all internet portals from the end of the coming week.
Due to its central location in Mid-Germany and the ideal facilities, such as 24 hour flight operations, Airport Magdeburg/Cochstedt is developing into a very accessible and very popular airport. The new flight plan was put into place by the airport corporation Magdeburg/ Cochstedt to fulfil the large demand for touristic medium distance flights easily accessible to all while avoiding the main traffic routes.
Additionally, the new tourism partner Schmetterling-Reisen completes the offers available in the travel agency sector in the state capitol’s airport. Not just the aiport’s own services are offered here, but worldwide travel from and to any destination are available to be arranged here.
