First freight aircraft stationed

The Airport Magdeburg/Cochstedt, Saxony-Anhalt’s only international commercial airport, puts a stronger focus onto its second branch, the area of freight and logistics. The first milestone has now been laid by stationing a freight aircraft of the type Antonov 26.

The aircraft by Latvian provider Raf-Avia will be available effective immediately for Europe wide transporting of up to 5.5t freight from Magdeburg/Cochstedt. The machine can load construction parts of up to ca. 11m in length, 2.3 width and 1.6m height. The main destinations of the AN26 are within a radius of 2,000 flight kilometres around mid Germany, but longer routes such as the Near East can be reached, too.  In addition to spare parts, racing cars or oversized single parts made of concrete, steel, metal etc, the aircraft of the certified Raf-Avia is also certified to transport hazardous goods “safely, securely and responsibly”. The AN 26 is available for ad hoc charter as well as for long term scheduled contracts.

The future will see the construction of two freight hangars on the airport grounds with dimensions of 1,000m² and 7,000m² respectively, which will present an important element for the new business park. Furthermore, an Industrial and Trade Park is readily available adjacent to the airport grounds. The area is fully developed and with its excellent connections to the road network most suitable for aviation related enterprises, traders and service providers. Investors can rest assured with a valid planning permission with fully developed sites available for purchase from only €10 per m². Motorways A14 and A2 and the National Road B6N are easily accessible and close by, allowing fast and inexpensive connections to commercial centres such as Berlin, Magdeburg, Hannover, Wolfsburg, Braunschweig , Halle or Leipzig via numerous, well developed motorways.
