The interest in flights from Brno is growing. In 2019, Brno-Tuřany Airport checked-in 543,633 passengers. It’s a 8.5% year-on-year growth
The year 2019 at Brno-Tuřany Airport could be summarized accordingly: increased interest in flying thanks to the growing economic strength of the Czech population and the good security situation in the world, newly scheduled flights, a record-breaking month of July, a well-managed crisis with the Boeing 737 MAX and further overcoming the limit of half a million passengers. In total, Brno-Tuřany Airport handled 543,633 passengers last year, which was a year-on-year increase of 8.5% compared to 2018.
While in 2018 the number of checked-in passengers only narrowly exceeded half a million, in 2019 Brno Airport can still be proud of the increased interest in flying from Tuřany. Despite the collapse of the British company bmi regional in February, which provided regular connections to Munich, the number of passengers grew thanks to new regular flights and a successful summer season. In addition, this July was a historical record with 117,255 passengers checked in. The grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX did not significantly affect these numbers either.
"In total, almost 376 thousand passengers used seasonal flights, which is an increase of4.5 % compared to last year. Last year, we handled 18.6% more passengers on regular routes, i.e. 167.5 thousand. Most of them flew to London. In the summer, people headed mostly to Greece and Turkey," commented Zdeněk Šoustal, Member of the Board of Directors of BRNO AIRPORT.
