Velana International Airport welcomed the launch of new route from Hangzhou, China by Maldivian Airlines.
The national carrier of Maldives, Maldivian Airlines launched its new route from Male’ – Hangzhou on 15th September 2017. The flight was given the traditional water salute at Velana International Airport and was welcomed by the Managing Director of Island Aviation Services (IAS) Mr. Abdul Harris along with senior officials from IAS, Chinese Embassy, Maldives Civil Aviation Authority and Maldives Airports Company Ltd.
The weekly flight from Hangzhou, China landed at 0615hrs local time with 200 passengers. Maldivian Airlines commenced its operations to China in July 2013. Currently Maldivian operates to Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi’an, Nanjing, and Wuhan.
