Velana International Airport welcomes IndiGo, the fourth Indian carrier to the Maldives

IndiGo, the largest low cost carrier in India commenced its operations from the city of Kochi on 15th November 2018. The Airline which was greeted with a water salute will operate double daily flights from the cities Kochi, Bangalore & Mumbai with an A320 aircraft.

The official event held to inaugurate IndiGo flights to the Maldives was officiated by the Chief Guest, the Indian Ambassador to Maldives, His Excellency Mr. Akilesh Mishra, Representative of Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Abdulla Rasheed, IndiGo’s, Vice President, Airport Operation & Customer Service, Ms. Cynthia Crabill Szadokierski and the Acting Managing Director of Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL), Mr. Moosa Solih.

With four Indian carriers connecting 5 major cities to the Maldives, the tourist arrival from Indian market is expected to increase rapidly.
