Honduras' new capital airport, Palmerola International opened its doors in December 2021 and has replaced the heavily constrained Toncontin Airport in Tegucigalpa. The airport is located aprox. 75 km northwest of Tegucigalpa, 8 km south of Comayagua and 170 km southeast of San Pedro Sula at the country’s main four lane highway (CA-5).
