A gift from ENIT (Italian national tourist board) - a journey within the journey: in the blink of eye you are in Italy
With a visionary and imaginative app that provides a taste of a vacation in Italy for a trip to relive and replay live.
It is now possible to travel through Italy with Italia-VR, the Virtual Reality App by ENIT-Italian National Tourist Board available for free from App store and Google Play. The App offers an immersive experience through Italian authenticity with the traveller at the center, moving within the Italian landscape all around, through special viewers or a smartphone panoramic photo setting. You can go anywhere in Italy and immerse yourself in the Italian way of life with a blink of an eye…close your eyes for a moment and find yourself on the beaches of the Amalfi Coast. The journey begins with your choice: from a food and wine tour in Naples to an aperitif in the Langhe, as in a journey through time. You leave Rome on a Vespa for a tour animated by Caesar. Italia VR is a project born at the end of 2018 with the aim of providing Italy with a promotional tool capable of reaching users all over the world. The use of immersive reality has grown exponentially in recent years becoming an indispensable trend and effective tool for the promotion of tourism. The creation of 360-degree videos optimizes Italy's positioning in the B2B segment as well as increasing brand awareness for the B2C market. The project meets the dual need of promoting lesser-known destinations in an innovative way, as well as repositioning more strategically Italy’s classic spots, in line with the overall marketing and promotion strategy implemented by the Italian National Tourist Board. In 2020 ENIT has plans to further develop the VR platform and to concurrently create video content, in collaboration with the Italian Regions. These plans also allow for the integration of material created by Italian Regions, Autonomous Provinces and Cities with the aim of making Italia VR the virtual entry point of choice for tourism to Italy. The first phase saw the publication of the App on the Apple and Android stores. Next, the App will be made available on professional platforms such as Oculus.
