The airports of Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate are confirmed once again this year among the most virtuous in Europe, for the efforts constantly put in place on several fronts to reduce energy consumption and to reduce CO2 emissions. In fact, the two Milanese airports have once again obtained 3+ neutrality, the most virtuous recognition for an airport, according to Airport Carbon Accreditation (the common protocol for the active management of emissions in airports through measurable results) promoted by ACI Europe, the association of European airports.

The airport industry, severely affected by the Covid-19 crisis, continues its effort to support the reduction of CO2.

ACI Europe presented the Airport Carbon Accreditation Interim Report 2019-2020 on February 5, which shows the results and developments that airports have adopted in the last year for the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. Furthermore, the report dedicates a focus on the introduction of two new certification levels 4 and 4+ that were previously missing. The Milan airports are already exploring from a technical point of view the possibilities of taking this path to obtain the new certifications.
