Carlos Muñoz, CEO and founder of Volotea, has expressed his satisfaction for the inauguration of these two new routes from Athens: “We have invested in Greece since the launch of Volotea, and in Athens since the last few months. Despite the challenging macroeconomic picture at times, the results have been very encouraging, as the Greek market needed more direct connections with competitive prices. Therefore we will go further, adding new capacity to our Greek operation for Summer 2016, including two new domestic routes to Mykonos and Mytilene”

Two new treasures to be visited from Athens
Mykonos is one of the most known islands in Greece, famous for its party scene but also for its beaches of golden sand. Built around a natural harbor, the capital, Mykonos Town, is a warren of narrow streets and whitewashed houses, many now converted to boho-chic bars and boutiques, all nestled under the watchful gaze of four hilltop windmills. Nearby, the sacred islet of Delos is a UNESCO listed archaeological site, steeped in history and ancient fertility symbolism.
Mytilene was founded in the eleventh century and is the capital of Lesbos Island. It is built on seven hills and features the Gateluzzi castle. Other three meeting points can’t be missed: Sappho Square, Agios Therapon church and the Statue of Liberty, at the end of the port.
