Passenger Traffic Development - February 2016

 During February, the airport’s passenger traffic exceeded for the first time for the specific month the 1 million mark, reaching 1.07 million, presenting a strong growth of 18.2%. It is worth noting that this record would have been achieved irrespective of the additional Leap Year day. Domestic travellers demonstrated a sharp rise of 26.6% and international passengers also showed a double-digit increase of 12.8%. Both Greek and foreign visitors continued their positive development and both increased their air travel by 17% and 21% respectively.

Overall, during the first two months of 2016, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 2.16 million, exceeding prior-year levels by a robust 15%, with domestic traffic enjoying high levels of increase (+21.4%), almost double the international passengers’ growth (+10.8%). Both Greek and foreign travellers enjoyed a similar rise at the level of 14% and 16% respectively.
