AIA's pax traffic development - March 2016
Robust growth during the first quarter of the year!
The airport’s passenger traffic during March reached record levels, amounting to 1.29 million, and enjoying a strong growth of 17.1%. Both domestic and international passengers reached record levels for the month of March, demonstrating a sharp rise of 26% and 11.9% respectively. Both Greek and foreign visitors continued their positive development and both increased their air travel by 16% and 18%, respectively.
Overall, the first quarter of the year ended, with Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport honoring its 15 years’ anniversary and achieving record levels of passenger traffic, with 3.45 million – equaling to an increase of 15.7% - and every month of the quarter exceeding previous records. Domestic as well as international passengers reached record levels for the period January through March, with 1.4 and 2.05 million, respectively, and international passengers surpassed, for the first time during the first quarter, the 2 million mark. Both Greek and foreign travellers enjoyed a robust rise at the level of 15% and 17%, respectively.
