Best June ever!

During June, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 2.18 million, the first time that June passenger volumes exceed the 2 million mark, and presented a robust rise of 11.1%.  This outcome was formulated by the strong growth of both domestic and international markets that enjoyed an increase of 6.8% and 13.5% respectively.  Greek residents presented an overall growth of 26%, while foreign residents further increased their already high 2016 respective levels by 2%.

Overall, during the first half of 2017, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 9.4 million, exceeding prior-year levels by a robust 8.3%, attributed to the sharp increase of the international sector by 13.2%, while the domestic market remained overall at the 2016 levels (+0.1%), mostly due to the successful performance of June traffic.  Both Greek and foreign residents presented an overall growth at the level of 14% and 2% respectively.

Flights during the first six months of the year approached 87 thousand (86,682) and presented a rise of 1.7%.  Domestic flights were slightly reduced by only 1% while international services showed an increase of 3.7%.
