Athens welcomes more foreign residents than ever before!

According to our own Athens airport survey, 2017 has been a great year for foreign residents international arrivals. With a 7% increase of Foreign O&D international arrivals, in total, 4.8 million additional foreign residents arrived in Athens compared to 2016, demonstrating once again the city’s impressive emergence among the family of top European Destinations.

Our top-5 volume-wise markets (Jan-Dec 2017)  are the US, Germany, UK, France, and Italy .

Additionally, smaller markets also posted a very significant growth, a combination of destination Athens constantly increasing attractiveness and AIA’s essential support to our airline partners.

Israel (+62%), Russia (+35%), Belgium (+34%), Turkey (+27%), Denmark (+27%) topped the respective list.
