Athens - Chicago:)

A great development for the Athens market, as American Airlines, announced its new flight from Athens (ATH) to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), connecting the two cities for the first time! The summer seasonal flight will operate 4 May,2019, through 29 September 2019, and will be flown on American’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 aircraft, 

“The flight will offer our customers a chance to experience the bustling city of Chicago... ....American offers more than 500 daily departures from O’Hare to destinations across North America, the Caribbean and Latin America.” said Angelo Camilletti, Sales Manager, Southeast Europe, for American Airlines, during a special Media event held by AIA and AA downtown Athens.

According also to Ioanna Papadopoulou, speaker at the Press Conference, not only in the period 2013 – 2018 foreign pax to Athens increased by 119% (+19.5% in 2018), but in addition, traffic between Athens and the USA grew by 14.2% in 2018, a record number as well. The Athens – Chicago route is expected to be well-received by the Greek American community generally in the US but especially in Chicago, Illinois, which is home to the third largest community of Greek Americans in the country after New York and California.“ We are aiming to see a ‘stimulation of demand’ from the Greek American community due to the fact that this is a direct service and for passenger numbers to increase significantly,” Ioanna said also at the Media event:)
