WizzAir connects the City of Music with the City of the Violet Crown ; the new WizzAir Vienna – Athens service starts 18 December 2019

WizzAir in winter 2019/2020 is adding its 9th route to Athens from Vienna. WizzAir added Athens in its network from March 2018 with multiple routes and up to July 2019 carried over 560,000 passengers.
This new development follows the addition of Kiyv services with WizzAir, earlier this year.
For Summer 2019 season, WizzAir from Athens is operating to: Budapest, Chisinau, Cluj, Katowice, Kutaisi, Kyiv (IEV), London (LTN) & Vilnius.
The new VIE-ATH route will be operated daily with a A321 equipment offering 230 seats per sector. WizzAir new route will add over 167,000 annual seats in the market.
Vienna among TOP20 International destinations for Athens and developing strong with +9% growth in passenger traffic during 1st half of 2019 , following a spectacular +10% growth delivering 276,000 passengers in 2018 versus 2017. 2018 was a record year for ATH-VIE route , surpassing the 250k mark for the 1st time ever !!
Passenger traffic aggregate growth on the ATH-VIE route from 2013 to 2018 at +58%
Popularity of Athens to the Austrian market is further evident by the robust increase in foreign residents international arrivals from Austria, grew by +55% to 81,200 passengers in 2018 versus 2017 and for the 1st half of 2019 rising by +41%
