August strong PAX traffic at Athens International Airport with 3.29mio PAX
Passenger traffic growth in August 2023 at 15.5% vs. 2022 and +8.4% to 2019
During August 2023, the airport’s passenger traffic amounted to 3.29 million, i.e. 15.5% above August 2022, but also 8.4% higher than the pre-COVID August 2019.
Domestic and international passengers surpassed the 2022 levels by 12.2% and 17% and the 2019 levels by 11.6% and 7%, respectively.
Overall, during the first eight months of 2023, the airport’s passenger traffic totalled 18.67 million, above the 2022 levels by 27.3% and higher than the respective 2019 levels by 8%. Analytically, domestic and international passengers surpassed the 2022 levels by 21.2% and 30.3%, while also exceeding the 2019 levels by 10.6% and 6.9%, respectively.
Number of flights during the first eight months of 2023 amounted to 161,520, i.e. 13.3% above the 2022 levels and 4.7% above the respective 2019 levels. Analytically, both domestic and international flights were above the 2022 volumes by 8% and 17.9%, while versus the 2019 levels, the observed growth was at the level of 8.8% and 1.7%, respectively.
