2024: The “Year of the Dragon” at Athens International Airport!

«Xīnnián kuàilè»! – Happy new year of the Dragon! This festive period, Athens International Airport is welcoming its visitors from China, with many wishes and activities! Last Monday, prior to Air China’s Athens-Beijing departure, we held an event at the check-in area, offering a taste of China’s culture, music and dragon dance, while following the Chinese tradition, gifts were offered to all arriving and departing passengers.

2024, the Year of the Dragon, marks a significant milestone for Athens development in the Chinese market with the introduction of the Shanghai - Athens very first direct connection  with Juneyao Airlines (2nd Chinese Destination) and the addition of two additional  weekly frequencies  by Air China (from 3 weekly to 5 weekly frequencies) on the Athens-Beijing route. Furthermore, level of service is enhanced as Air China will operate this Summer its A350 equipment on the route (replacing the A330) and Juneyao Airlines will operate its Shanghai service with a B787 equipment. All in all, the 3 weekly frequencies to China in the Summer of 2023 will increase to 8 weekly in Summer 2024 !!
