Southwest Airlines starts weekly service to Houston

Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) held at departure gate #4 a ceremony in honor of the first departing flight performed by Southwest Airlines to William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas.

This is the second inaugural flight by Southwest Airlines since they first touched down at Aruba Airport in July 2014. This new service by Southwest Airlines will be provided once weekly on Saturdays with their B737-700 aircraft which comfortably seats 143 passengers.

The US Pre-Clearance that Aruba offers to passengers travelling to the US was a major factor for the carrier when deciding to expand its amount of flights to more destinations:

“CBP’s Preclearance program allows us to deliver early on the promise we made Houstonians to couple our low fares and high-value Customer Service with Heart to places outside the U.S.,” said Teresa Laraba, Southwest’s Senior Vice President of Customers.”

Southwest Airlines is in its 44th year of service and this Dallas-based airline continues to differentiate itself from other air carriers with exemplary Customer Service delivered by more than 46,000 Employees to more than 100 million Customers annually. Southwest operates more than 3,400 flights a day, serving 94 destinations across the United States and six additional countries. The Company operates the largest fleet of Boeing aircraft in the world, the majority of which are equipped with satellite-based WiFi providing gate-to-gate connectivity while over the United States. Southwest is the only major U.S. airline to offer bags fly free (first and second checked pieces of luggage), and there are never reservation change fees, although fare differences might apply.

“Today marks another milestone for Aruba Airport. Our relationship with Southwest is growing and we couldn’t be happier about it. The Houston flight will provide an additional option for our passengers who seek great service and competitive fares. We are convinced that the connectivity to other destinations in the US will be a great advantage for Southwest and our passengers. We look forward to many more inaugural flights with Southwest in the near future”, said AAA CEO Mr. James Fazio during the inaugural ceremony held at the airport.
