Winner of "under four million passengers" category.
"We are very proud to announce that once again Queen Beatrix International Airport has been announced the winner of the Americas Routes Marketing Award as the best regional airport in its category," Jo-Anne Arends, Head Airline Marketing Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) shared after the awards ceremony which took place earlier this month.
AAA representatives received the award for the second time - the first was in 2013 - during the Routes Americas 2016 event in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Routes Americas is the only route development forum for the entire Americas region. This year's event welcomed the highest number of delegates in its nine year history - 750 compared to 650 in 2015.
This was the tenth nomination for Aruba for the Routes Marketing Awards in the "under four million passengers" category.
The annual "Routes Marketing Awards" is recognized worldwide as the aviation industry's most important award. Airlines are requested to cast their votes for those organizations that provide the best overall marketing services to them, whether this relates to their particular relationship, effective results, provision of data and information of innovative techniques to establish new or maintain and develop existing routes.
In the category won by Aruba, Charleston International Airport and the international airport of Curacao took second and third place, respectively.
Finalists in each category were judged by airline representatives including Director of Planning for Avianca, Adriana Hurtado; Senior Planning Analyst for Copa Airlines, Olga Guizado; Delta Airlines General Manager Network Planning and Global Partnership Development, Chris Kennedy; and Dave Clark, Vice President Network Planning for JetBlue Airways.
"To be recognized by our airline partners for our efforts is a confirmation for our team that hard work and dedication do pay off. We strive to every day ensure that we are actively and proactively lending support to our airline partners and maintain healthy working relationships with small regional partners, medium-size operators and long-haul carriers," Jo-Anne Arends emphasizes.
Aruba Airport received honorable mentions in the category "Fastest Growing Routes" and Fastest Growing Markets". In 2015, the airport of Aruba managed over 2.8 million passengers, recording a growth of over 14% in the number of passengers and 18% in capacity, compared to 2014.
AAA management congratulates its entire team of associates and stakeholders on these recognitions, and thanks on-island and international partners, including Aruba Tourism Authority and Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association, for their efforts in achieving yet another successful year.
Forecasts for 2016 show continuous growth for Aruba Airport in the number of flights and passengers coming through the terminal.
