Delta Air Lines Expands Services to Aruba

Delta Air Lines announces restart of MSP-AUA service and increased frequencies from other key U.S. markets for Winter 2024-2025

Aruba Airport continues to see growth in its U.S. market with Delta Air Lines announcing the restart of its previously operated MSP-AUA route.

MSP - AUA Route
Delta Air Lines recently announced its plans to expand its services to Aruba by reintroducing its previously operated Minneapolis-Aruba route from its Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport (MSP) hub, starting December 20, 2024. The flights are scheduled to operate on Fridays and Sundays, departing at 7:05 AM from MSP and arriving at 2:55 PM in Aruba. This is a significant development for Aruba Airport, as the airline last operated seasonal service from MSP in 2018 with one weekly Saturday flight.

The MSP-AUA route has been operational for some time with Sun Country offering weekly Saturday flights. The MSP-AUA route is expected to see further expansion, with Sun Country announcing an increase in frequency starting January 2025, going from one weekly flight to three weekly flights operated on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. This will result in a combined total of 5 weekly flights from MSP to AUA during the winter period.

Further Expansion of Delta's U.S. Routes for Winter 2024 - 2025
In addition, Delta Air Lines also announced the expansion of its other routes for Winter 2024-2025. Starting December 19, 2024, the airline will restart its Boston (BOS) service with daily frequency, while service from Atlanta (ATL) will increase from 10 weekly flights to double daily flights. Similarly, service from New York (JFK) will also increase with the addition of one weekly flight, going from daily flights to 8 weekly flights starting January 11, 2025. With the addition of these flights, Delta Air Lines is expected to see an 8% growth in seat capacity in Winter 2024-2025 compared to Winter 2023-2024 and a 6% growth in the number of flights compared to the same period.

“The restart of the MSP route and the increase in flight frequencies confirms the high demand and the airline's willingness to explore additional gateways during the busy winter season, particularly from those escaping the cold and seeking the warmth of our One Happy Island. The addition of this new MSP route with Delta Air Lines further amplifies and diversifies the North American market for Aruba, enhancing point to point connectivity and accessibility.", said Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends, Aruba Airport's Aviation Business Development Executive.
