Southwest Airlines Celebrates 10 Years of Service at Aruba Airport!

A Decade of Expanding Routes, Increased Frequencies, and Over 207,000 Passengers Transported

On July 1st, Southwest Airlines marked a decade of operations at Aruba Airport. The airline inaugurated its first flight to Aruba from Baltimore (BWI) on July 1st, 2014. Since then, Southwest has expanded its services, commencing flights from Houston-Hobby Airport (HOU) on March 7, 2015, initially with weekly Saturday service, later expanding its schedule. Additionally, Southwest introduced service from Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Presently, Southwest operates two weekly flights during the winter months from BWI, with flights on Saturdays and Sundays. During the summer, the airline will increase its frequency to five weekly flights in June and July, including flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Furthermore, Southwest offers daily flights from MCO to Aruba, providing travelers with increased flexibility and convenience.

Southwest Airlines' successful decade of service in Aruba is a testament to the airline’s dedication to offering affordable and reliable air travel. Over the years, Southwest has transported over 207,000 passengers to Aruba, contributing significantly to the island's tourism industry and economy. The airline's presence has facilitated easier access for tourists, helping Aruba maintain its status as a top vacation destination in the Caribbean.

In celebration of this milestone, the Southwest team in Aruba decorated the airline’s check-in booths to thank passengers for their loyalty and to commemorate the occasion.

“Looking ahead, we at Aruba Airport are excited about the future opportunities that lie ahead with Southwest Airlines. This milestone highlights the airline’s dedication to connecting passengers to Aruba and the airline's significant growth over the past decade. We look forward to many more years of successful collaboration with Southwest Airlines, enhancing our connectivity and ensuring that Aruba remains a top destination in the Caribbean,” said Aviation Business Development Executive, Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends.
