Aruba Airport Monthly Traffic Update | JULY 2024

Aruba Airport experienced strong growth in July, handling over 1,200 flights and serving more than 147,600 revenue-generating passengers, marking a 15% increase compared to 2023. Seat capacity to the island also expanded by 16% during this period.

With the exception of the European market, all other markets showed growth in July. The U.S. market saw a 14% increase in revenue-generating passengers and a 17% growth in seat capacity. The Latin American & Caribbean market demonstrated significant growth, with a 28% increase in revenue-generating passengers and a 35% increase in seat capacity. Similarly, the Canadian market experienced a 31% increase in revenue-generating passengers and a 32% increase in seat capacity.

 Among airlines, JetBlue emerged as the leading carrier at Aruba Airport, holding the largest market share of revenue-generating passengers at 24%, an increase of 1.8 points. American Airlines followed with an 18.7% market share, growing by 2.0 points, while United Airlines held a 12.7% share, reflecting an increase of 1.5 points.

 In terms of gateway cities, New York stood out as the largest contributor to seat capacity. The three major New York airports—JFK, EWR, and LGA—collectively accounted for 24% of seat capacity, followed by Miami and Boston at 8% each.

Looking Ahead

This upward trajectory is expected to continue, with the North American region projected to reach 1.3 million seats by the end of 2024, reflecting strong year-over-year growth of 18%. The Latin American region is also forecasted to experience impressive growth, with a year-over-year increase of 43% by the end of 2024, reaching over 309,500 seats. Further enhancing connectivity, LATAM Airlines will increase its flight frequency to Lima, Peru (LIM), from 4 to 5 weekly flights starting in November 2024. Additionally, GOL Airlines will launch direct flights to Aruba from São Paulo, Brazil (GRU) in December 2024.
