Aruba Airport Continues Progress in Gateway 2030 Project with Soft Opening of U.S. Check-In Terminal

Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) has made significant strides in its Gateway 2030 Project with the soft opening of the new U.S. Check-In Terminal at Queen Beatrix International Airport.
This transition is part of the airport’s broader efforts to modernize and enhance passenger experience while increasing operational efficiency.
On April 8, 2025, the first flights checked in at the new terminal, marking a major milestone in the phased rollout of the facility. The soft opening included operations for Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country and Spirit Airlines, who are now utilizing the state-of-the-art check-in hall and advanced baggage handling system. As the transition continues, the airport remains focused on ensuring a seamless process for passengers and airline partners.
Streamlined U.S. Pre-Clearance and Enhanced Efficiency
One of the key features of the new U.S. Check-In Terminal is the integration of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) screening, which is expected to significantly improve the passenger experience. By eliminating the need for passengers to reclaim or drop off luggage after CBP screening, the new terminal will streamline the check-in process and reduce congestion, ultimately improving overall efficiency. This feature highlights Aruba’s strategic advantage as a regional hub, offering smoother connections for U.S.-bound passengers.
With the soft opening underway, Aruba Airport is actively working with its airline partners, ground handlers, and CBP to fine-tune operations and ensure that the full transition, including all U.S.-bound carriers, will be as seamless as possible.
A Strategic Investment in the Future of Aruba Airport
The U.S. Check-In Terminal represents a key component of the Gateway 2030 Project, which aims to position Aruba as a world-class airport and regional hub. The new terminal is designed not only to enhance the efficiency of U.S.-bound flights but also to contribute to the airport’s long-term capacity and service quality improvements for all travelers.
“We’re excited to see the first phase of the Gateway 2030 Project come to life with the soft opening of the U.S. Check-In Terminal,” said Jo-Anne Arends, Aviation Business Development Executive at Aruba Airport Authority. “This is a critical step forward in improving the overall passenger experience and enhancing Aruba’s connectivity with the U.S. market. We remain committed to working closely with our airline partners to ensure that the transition continues to meet the high standards expected of our passengers and stakeholders.”
