Lufthansa Launch New Routes to Berlin and Hamburg from Birmingham Airport
Lufthansa offer direct flights to Berlin and Hamburg from Birmingham Airport
Birmingham Airport has teamed up with Lufthansa to launch a new service to Hamburg, which will operate 12 times a week.
This service is followed by a new daily flight to Berlin, which will come into effect in early June, meaning flying out to Germany has never been easier.
Christian Schindler, Lufthansa’s General Manager for UK & Ireland, said: “As well as offering passengers quick and easy access to many of the main German cities, we continue to ensure that our flights to and from Birmingham offer the shortest possible onward connection times to our worldwide network through our main hubs of Frankfurt and Munich, as well as our developing mini-hub at Dusseldorf.”
The decision to launch new services to Hamburg and Berlin follows a record breaking year for Lufthansa, who carried the highest number of passengers to and from Birmingham in the airline’s history.
Christian continued: “Our passenger growth out of Birmingham in 2011 proves that the vast majority of travellers still want the added value they receive from a full service airline. They know when they book with Lufthansa the price they pay includes the option to check-in online or at the airport, the ability to take a reasonable amount of luggage and they also enjoy good quality food and drink on board the aircraft, with no hidden extra cost.”
Martyn Lloyd, Commercial Director at Birmingham Airport, said: “This addition to our summer flight schedule is great news for people in Birmingham and the wider region. By making major European cities such as Hamburg and Berlin more accessible, it will also benefit the business community here in the Midlands and contribute towards helping the UK economy as a whole.”
