Launch of direct scheduled flights to Heraklion by Aegean Airlines
Two weekly direct flights linking Crete with the European capital
Brussels Airport, 28 March 2012 – During the summer season, the Greek carrier Aegean Airlines will operate flights from Brussels Airport to two new destinations in Greece. Starting today Aegean will carry out a two weekly service to Crete on Wednesday and Saturday. In June, the carrier will also add the Brussels-Corfu route to its offer of direct regular services.
This new scheduled service guarantees a rapid direct flight from the European capital to this region. At Brussels Airport the flight from Iraklion conveniently connects with the intercontinental flights operated by Brussels Airlines and other Star Alliance partners of Aegean, ensuring easy access to destinations in North-America and Africa.
Schedule:
Iraklion 7.00 am – Brussels 9.45 am
Brussels 10.30 am – Iraklion 3.00 pm
As a member of the Star Alliance, Aegean already operates a two daily service to Athens in code share with Brussels Airlines. Until now it was only possible to fly to the Greek Isles from Brussels on a leisure flight or with a transfer at Athens, but from now on these destinations are directly accessible with Aegean. This new direct route is also operated in code share with Brussels Airlines.
The Greek isles have been a popular holiday destination for decades. At a stone’s throw from Iraklion, you will find the ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Besides a rich history, the sunny island also offers a large variety of landscapes. The Isle of Corfu is known as a wonderful holiday destination blessed with an agreeable climate. Snorkeling fans in particular will enjoy the picturesque bays cut into the rugged coastline.
