Brussels Airport open for business at TIACA Air Cargo Forum in Atlanta
Significant Belgian presence at bi-annual TIACA conference
From 2-4 October, TIACA organised its bi-annual Air Cargo Forum and Exposition in Atlanta. For 3 days over 5000 delegates and 200 exhibitors came together to promote air cargo.
TIACA, The International Air Cargo Association, is a non-profit professional organisation that represents all the players involved in air cargo. The aim of this organisation is to work towards the gradual liberalisation and growth of the air cargo sector in consultation with governments and industry. As a member of TIACA, Brussels Airport also had a prominent presence in Atlanta, along with a number of companies operating at Brucargo: Essers, Adelantex, Demavia, Via, bpost, Aviapartner, Swissport and WFS. The objective was to promote Brucargo and Brussels Airport jointly. During the fair various Belgian beers could be sampled at the Brussels Airport stand, thanks to the support and cooperation of Duvel Moortgat. Needless to say our Belgian beer is a strong export product that enjoys worldwide recognition.
In support of the Belgian companies, the Belgian Consul General in Atlanta, Mrs Geneviève Verbeeck, organised a reception at the Brussels Airport stand for all the Belgians present and their business partners. The Consul was welcomed to the stand by Jos Stroobants, Director of Sales and Marketing at Brussels Airport. He thanked the Consul and all the Belgian partners for their support at the fair. "The presence of Brussels Airport at TIACA, the most important air cargo forum in the world, is extremely important for the promotion of our airport and to emphasise our new strategy regarding cargo. We want to continue to differentiate ourselves and to specialise, particularly in pharmaceuticals and cool chain logistics, and have the opportunity here to share this with the whole industry. Moreover, we are very pleased and proud to be able to do this in cooperation with various partners. We are delighted, too, that both the Consul and FIT have come and demonstrated their support, given the importance of the two parties in attracting and promoting new business opportunities”.
