Wizz Air’s new target from Cologne Bonn
New link to Craiova in Romania
Cologne Bonn Airport’s route network expansion continues with the announcement that Wizz Air will launch a direct link to Craiova next year. Due to commence the twice-weekly service on 27 March 2017, the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) will connect Cologne Bonn to Romania’s sixth largest city.
Serving the Romanian market from Cologne Bonn alongside Blue Air, the ULCC will face no direct competition on the new airport pair, operating the 1,450-kilometre sector with the carrier’s A320 fleet. Currently offering almost 1,200 weekly seats to Romania, the extra frequencies will give Wizz Air a 47% share of weekly capacity to the south-eastern European country from Cologne Bonn next year.
As one of Europe’s largest low-cost carriers, the airline currently has a fleet of 73 A320 and A321, serving 130 destinations in 38 countries. Adding to its network from Cologne Bonn, Wizz Air recently announced the launch of a link to Tuzla – the economic, cultural and tourist centre of north-east Bosnia and Herzegovina – from 27 March 2017. As the airport’s ninth largest carrier in terms of weekly seats, the ULCC will now offer eight routes from Cologne Bonn, the new services complementing the airline’s existing flights to Skopje, Sofia, Cluj-Napoca, Gdansk, Katowice and Kiev Zhulyany.
