Pobeda plans Russian growth from Cologne Bonn

Pobeda – Aeroflot’s subsidiary airline and Russia’s only low-cost carrier (LCC) – has confirmed the commencement of a twice-weekly service from Cologne Bonn Airport to St. Petersburg tomorrow. Being the German airport’s only regular operator to Russia, the airline will launch the 1,753-kilometre connection utilising its 737-800 fleet, from 17 February.

Commenting on the latest announcement, Athanasios Titonis, Managing Director, Cologne Bonn Airport says: “We are very pleased that Pobeda is expanding its involvement at our airport. The new connection is not only attractive for those who want to stay in the exciting city of St. Petersburg, but also for those who are travelling in Russia."

Making Cologne Bonn its first German operation by joining the gateway’s airline portfolio two years ago, Pobeda faces no competition on its latest link between the North Rhine-Westphalia region and Russia’s second-largest city. Already having its presence at Cologne Bonn with a daily rotation to its base at Moscow Vnukovo, the LCC’s new link will result in the airport offering close to 300 flights to Russia this summer.

“We are very pleased that our partnership with Cologne Bonn Airport has turned out to be so successful, and now we have connected this beautiful city with St. Petersburg! I am sure that the new St. Petersburg-Cologne flights will enjoy the same high demand as the flights from Moscow," comments Andrey Kalmykov, General Director, Pobeda.

Securing its 18th new service on its route map for 2018, Pobeda’s latest addition will see Cologne Bonn add more than 11,000 seats to its network during S18.
