Copenhagen Airport set for record-breaking summer

Copenhagen Airport is ready for the up to 85,000 daily passengers expected during the next few weeks, as vacation-bound Danes and Swedes head for destinations around the world. In preparation for the busy season, the airport has expanded its check-in facilities and designed a new travel guide.

As the Danes are getting out their suitcases and packing their summer wardrobe, Copenhagen Airport is preparing for the summer’s big rush of holidaymakers and leisure travellers.
Summer is the busiest time of the year at Copenhagen Airport, and this year they are expecting more passengers than ever before. Airport officials are expecting as many as 40 days with 75,000–80,000 passengers and on the busiest days even up to 85,000 passengers departing, arriving or in transit.

“Last summer was the busiest in the history of the airport, as we served 6.4 million passengers in June, July and August alone. Since then, our passenger numbers have grown consistently and based on current passenger forecasts, we expect another record summer season this year,” says Henrik Peter Jørgensen, VP, Communications for Copenhagen Airports.

Greater check-in capacity
One of the steps the airport has taken to prepare for the large flow of passengers has been to expand the check-in facilities in Terminal 2: ten extra desks have been installed in a new check-in area, lifting the airport’s overall check-in capacity by 11%. There are also more check-in kiosks available relative to last year, and the signage and guidance on how to use the kiosks has been improved.

Security will be extra staffed during the summer period and special family tracks will be opened during the busiest periods.
