Copenhagen beats Stockholm
15-20% lower labour costs and office rentals at half price. That is the conclusion of a recent study by Copenhagen Capacity based on financial numbers from the Swiss business school IMD and the Financial Times.
The primary reason for the large difference in labour costs is a social contribution defrayed by the employer which in Stockholm amounts to 32% while it is kept at 1% in Copenhagen.
Besides being less expensive on wage and rent, Denmark has just been elected the ‘Best Country to do Business’ by Forbes. One of the main reasons for this is a very flexible labour market.
“We have a more powerful airport, we are closer to the German and other European markets and Copenhagen is the most flexible place to locate your business since it is easy to hire and fire,” says Kim Lundberg, Investor Development Manager at Copenhagen Capacity.
