The air bridge to London is growing
Traffic to the British capital out of Copenhagen continues to surge. The number of passengers travelling from Copenhagen to London has grown by 135,000 year on year.
In the first six months of the year, 1,027,785 passengers travelled between Copenhagen and London, representing a 15.1% year-on-year increase. This still makes London the absolutely most popular destination out of Copenhagen.
One of the reasons is that the number of flights to London has increased by two per day since Ryanair started operating out of Copenhagen. Accordingly, there are now between 23 and 25 daily flights out of Copenhagen to the London Airports of Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton.
The first busy summer month of the year was slightly busier than last year as passenger numbers grew by 0.3% in June.
Overall, 2,529,528 passengers passed through the airport in June. This year's peak travel day, the first day of the school summer holidays, was on 26 June, when 95,790 passengers passed through the airport.
The total number of passengers at Copenhagen Airport in the first six months of the year was 12,345,829, largely equal to the number for the first six months of 2014, when an impressive growth rate of 7.3% was recorded. The number of transfer passengers continued to be affected by SAS's adjustments to its transfer product.
