CPH: New summer record
Close to 2.6 million passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in August, a new monthly record for the airport. It was also a new record for the summer, with a total of over 7.8 million passengers using the airport in the three summer months.
A total of 2,575,957 passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in August, representing a 5.5% year-on-year increase.
Setting yet another passenger record in August with more than 7.8 million passengers in the three summer months, 2015 was the busiest summer period in the history of the airport. The numbers also indicate that more foreign tourists flew to Copenhagen than ever before, something that benefits growth all over Denmark,” said Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S.
A total of 7,833,176 passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in June, July and August: almost 275,000 more than last year, corresponding to an increase of 3.6%.
The number of European travellers was up by 6.6% in August. Intercontinental traffic increased by 1.2%, and transfer was up by 1.8%, whereas domestic traffic dropped by about 1,500 travellers, or 1.2%, due to lower capacity on a number of services. The year-to-date increase in passenger numbers was 1.5%.
