03.10.2008 Fly direct to Milan with easyJet
Yet another daily direct flight was added to Copenhagen Airport's low-fare offering as easyJet premiered its Copenhagen-Milan service on Wednesday, 1 October.
Copenhagen Airport served over three million low-fare passengers in 2007, and low-cost travel continues to represent the area of greatest growth in traffic at the airport.
"We are happy to offer our passengers yet another low-cost route to a popular destination. Low-fare traffic is our most significant area of growth, and it is a trend that seems set to continue in the years to come," said Copenhagen Airports CEO Brian Petersen.
Copenhagen-Milan is easyJet's third scheduled route out of Copenhagen: the low-cost airline already offers daily flights to London and Berlin. As Italy's centre for finance and industry as well as fashion and culture, the new destination will appeal to both business and holiday travellers. EasyJet expects to see a great deal of interest in the Copenhagen-Milan route, which is part of the airline's current focus on the Scandinavian market.
"As the fastest-growing airline in Italy, easyJet will transport seven million passengers in that country just this year, half of them to and from Milan. The new Copenhagen-Milan route is part of this, just as it is part of our continued growth -and the first step in a sharper focus on Scandinavia," said Thomas Haagensen, easyJet's general regional manager for the Nordic market.
