13.10.2008 Wide support of CPH SWIFT
Yesterday, Copenhagen Airports A/S launched CPH SWIFT, which is a new concept for efficient airlines to develop growth and provide Danish travellers with cheaper fares for more destinations. CPH SWIFT is widely supported by various Danish stakeholders.
Following Copenhagen Airport's presentation of the plans for CPH SWIFT on Tuesday, the project has been widely supported by various stakeholders. CPH SWIFT is designed with a view to increasing the airlines' efficiency and thereby making it possible for the airport to reduce the passenger charge by 50%. A lower passenger charge will entail cheaper fares for Danish travellers to more destinations.
A wider range of destinations will consolidate the airport's status as a main North European airport as well as Copenhagen's position as a metropolis.
"We see a prevailing tendency for both business and holiday travellers to favour cities with a large range of routes to make the flight efficient, simple and preferably cheap. Copenhagen Airport's new facilities make the airway to and from Copenhagen broader, which will greatly benefit the Danes as well as the tourists. The airport's initiative will thus have profound implications on continued growth of Copenhagen tourism and our position as an international congressional city", says Lars Bernhard Jørgensen, CEO of Wonderful Copenhagen, about CPH SWIFT.
A far greater number of routes
CPH has a far greater number of routes and passengers than its main competitors in Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki and Hamburg, and with its launch of CPH SWIFT the airport strives to further strengthen this position.
"When international companies decide on the location of their company, one of the key factors is easy access to an international airport having an international route network and many frequencies. It is of critical importance to trade and industry and regional development that Copenhagen Airport maintains its position as the largest airport in Scandinavia. The new Copenhagen Airport initiatives will undoubtedly make the airport even more attractive and competitive to the airlines", says Steen Donner, Managing Director of Copenhagen Capacity.
Easy passage through the airport
CPH SWIFT will get an annual capacity of six million passengers, which is expandable to twelve million, if required. The CPH SWIFT passengers will exploit the existing airport facilities such as the central security checkpoint and the modern baggage sorting system, and an easy, efficient passage through CPH is thus ensured.
"It is of critical importance to the Danish Travel Agency Association that the necessary facilities are made available to passengers and airlines. It is a preference for many passengers to have a quick, easy and cheap passage through the airport. The airport's notable initiative will entail an increased capacity and a price reduction that work as a driving force creating a continued growth of the low-cost and charter traffic", says Lars Thykier, Managing Director of the Danish Travel Agency Association.
