CAP’s Aviation Safety week 2024 concludes successfully
Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) has successfully concluded Aviation Safety Week 2024, held from November 4 to November 8. This week brought together the CUR Airport community and key partners to strengthen a culture of safety, underscoring its essential role in aviation.
The week commenced with targeted airside safety activities, followed by an Aviation Safety Conference on Thursday, November 7, held at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort. This event welcomed distinguished speakers, including Mrs. Estela Andrade, Safety Manager of RIOgaleão Airport, and Mr. Johan Frans Gummels, Director and Owner of Airside Safety B.V. Curaçao’s own safety experts also contributed valuable insights: Mr. Albert Martis, Director of the Meteorological Department of Curaçao & Permanent Representative for Curaçao and St. Maarten with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and Mr. Lesley Fer, Director of Directie Risicobeheersing & Rampenbeleid Curaçao. These speakers shared their knowledge on safety protocols, emerging risks, and best practices, equipping participants with practical tools to advance aviation safety.
The Safety Week concluded on November 8 with the traditional FOD Walk. Members of the CUR Airport community joined early in the morning to walk the runway, ensuring a clean, debris-free environment and reinforcing CAP’s commitment to airfield safety.
This year’s Aviation Safety Week highlighted CAP’s ongoing commitment to cultivating a proactive safety culture through collaboration and awareness, and Curaçao Airport Partners extends heartfelt gratitude to all participants, speakers, and partners for their contributions toward ensuring a safer future for aviation at CUR.
