Denver International Airport Sets Record for Busiest September with 5.1 Million Passengers
DENVER – Nov. 8, 2016 – Denver International Airport (DEN) recorded its busiest September in the airport’s history, with more than 5 million passengers, and has now seen thirteen consecutive months of record-setting passenger traffic.
A total of 5,112,271 passengers passed through the airport in September. Year-to-date passenger traffic at DEN was 8.2 percent higher than during this same time in 2015, with 43,519,317 passengers.
“This was the first September in Denver history with more than 5 million passengers,” airport CEO Kim Day said. “Our airline partners continue to experience strong growth, a reflection of Denver’s robust economy, which is generating a high propensity to travel and strong inbound demand for visitors traveling to Colorado.”
A total of 171,118 international passengers traveled through the airport in September 2016, an increase of 16.1 percent higher than September 2015.
Mail, freight and express cargo operations saw 47,405,681 pounds of cargo in September 2016, an increase of 0.5 percent compared to the same month in 2015.
