New Route from DSA to the European Capital of Culture

Wizz launch Doncaster Sheffield - Riga flights from June 2014

Yorkshire passengers are now heading off to the beautiful Latvian capital of Riga thanks to a new Wizz Air route from Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield.

The twice weekly flights (Mon and Fri) from the Airport to the increasingly popular city will start on June 20.  Flights are on sale now.

Riga is known for its beautiful historical city centre and also holds the esteemed status of being a Unesco World Heritage Site.  The city was named the European Capital of Culture 2014 and is the perfect destination for anyone looking for a diverse and inspiring weekend getaway.

Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “We are delighted to be able to offer Yorkshire residents flights to Riga with Wizz Air.

“This is a real boost to our continued focus on delivering more and more value for money flights for the region’s passengers. This new service with Wizz Air means that travellers can take advantage of some great low fares to a variety of destinations.

“Riga is a great city and we are confident that it will be very successful as a city break destination from the Yorkshire region”

Wizz Air announced that it will open a Riga base with one new Airbus A320 on 19 June 2014 flying to four new routes in Europe.  The route between Doncaster and Riga is the only new UK route to the Wizz Air Riga base.
