DSA strengthens team with new Cargo Manager

A Yorkshire airport has boosted its management team by appointing a new Cargo Manager to develop its business model for goods travelling through the base.

Dayle Hauxwell, aged 44, has joined Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield with over two decades experience in the cargo industry.

He said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to work at an airport which has amazing potential. Existing partnerships with Anglo World Cargo have already benefitted the airport and the cargo business has increased significantly for this Doncaster port.

“While it is important to recognise that times are challenging for businesses’ across the globe, Doncaster Sheffield Airport has the infrastructure and appetite to work with major airlines and handlers.

“I am looking forward to working with the team at the airport and their partners to develop to potential of the cargo prospects for in Yorkshire.”

The airport’s Cargo Terminal consists of 55,000 sq ft of operational space and is equipped with a full range of equipment and facilities capable of handling any aircraft. This, coupled with the airport’s 2893m runway, gives them the ability to handle all aspects of airfreight from the smallest parcel to bespoke charters of the largest cargo aircraft, up to and including Antonov-225’s.

Steve Gill, managing director at Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “Dayle is a very welcome addition to the team. He has spent much of his working life in and around the London airport and brings with him a wealth of experience in cargo management.

“He joins the airport at a time when we are growing our team and strengthening our management and I am convinced that together, we will succeed in achieving our ambitious business objectives in this area.”

Work is now under way the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS), a direct link road to the motorway network means that soon the airport will be even more accessible.

The FARRRS project will add further weight to the proposition and will create a fantastic multimodal facility with road, rail, air and sea coming together.
