Flybe will now offer single-ticket flights from its regional airport hubs to major cities in the US and Canada through a new deal with Aer Lingus via Dublin Airport
The low-cost airline has unveiled a codeshare agreement with Aer Lingus that will allow passengers to fly from Exeter, Inverness, Southend and Southampton to North American destinations served by Aer Lingus from Dublin.
Passengers from regional hubs can make transatlantic journeys with a single ticket rather than buying a series of separate journeys.
Aer Lingus has more than 10 transatlantic flights from Dublin Airport every day to cities including Boston, New York, San Francisco, Orlando, Chicago and Toronto.
The deal extends to passengers on Flybe's partner flights to Dublin - namely those from Donegal with Loganair and the airline's joint service from Southend Airport with Stobart Air.
Paul Simmons, Flybe's chief commercial officer, said the deal would provide "seamless connectivity from the regions of the UK, which means passengers do not have to face long road or rail journeys to the UK's south east hub airports".
Stephen Kavanagh, Aer Lingus chief strategy and planning officer, said the deal would help the Irish airline "further develop our transatlantic hub at Dublin to the benefit of customers in the UK and the US".
Flybe already runs codeshares with Air France to various European cities, British Airways for London Gatwick, Etihad and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
