Dublin Airport Flight Traffic Up 9.1% In September
Commercial traffic at Dublin Airport grew by 9.1% in September with a daily average of 574 departures and landings
Total flights in Irish airspace – including those passing through - increased by 5.3%, with September 4 being the busiest single day with 1,877 flights.
The latest flight statistics from the Irish Aviation Authority also show that in the third quarter of 2015, Irish airspace traffic increased by a “robust” 5.4%.
An average of 1,767 flights per day passed through Irish airspace during the period. Of these, almost 750 flights took off or landed at the three State airports.
Said IAA Chief Executive Eamonn Brennan said the third quarter of the year saw flights returning to pre-downturn levels across many areas, including en route, North Atlantic Communications and Dublin Terminal Operations.
September saw a 6.1% increase in en route traffic - flights that pass through Irish airspace but do not land – totalling 30,001 movements. North Atlantic Communications flights (Europe / North America) increased by 5.6% with 40,397 movements.
Traffic at Cork Airport was down 11.3% with an average of 52 daily commercial movements in September, while traffic at Shannon fell by 21.1% with an average of 59 daily commercial movements.
