Dublin Airport Enjoys Busiest October Ever

Dublin Airport enjoyed the busiest October in its 76-year history, handling almost 2.5 million passengers, a 9% increase on the same month last year.

The number of passengers flying to and from continental Europe increased by 11% to almost 1.3 million. Almost 860,000 passengers travelled to and from UK destinations, a 4%rise.

Transatlantic traffic to and from North America increased by 26%, with more than 291,000 passengers travelling.

Traffic to and from other international destinations in the Middle East and North Africa declined by 9% to just under 60,000 passengers .

Almost 7,500 passengers travelled on domestic routes last month, which was a 10% decrease over the same month last year.

Dublin Airport has welcomed almost 24 million passengers in the first 10 months of the year - a 12% increase over the same period in 2015. This amounts to almost 2.5 million extra passengers travelling through the airport between January and October.

Over 142,000 passengers chose Dublin Airport during October as a hub to connect to another destination - a 57% increase over the same month last year. This made October the busiest month ever for connecting passengers.

So far this year, the number of passengers connecting through Dublin Airport has increased by 20% to almost 976,000.
